History of our weekends

Cursillo weekend #10 -- May, 2010

Weekend #10 will be
on May 13-16, 2008 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Walla Walla.  Mary Basta will be the Lay Rector.

Start thinking now about who you would like to sponsor to the weekend. They'll need to send in a completed Candidate Application Form.

Applications may be sent in at any time before May 1st.  Please don't wait until the last minute! It's perfectly OK to send applications early -- and it's easier to for your candidate to reserve time on their busy calendar if you plan well in advance.

The team leaders so far are:
Lay rector -- Mary Basta
Spiritual director -- The Rev. Robert Dunn (Mary's dad!)
Assistant lay rector -- Mary Kay Ferrell
Palanca leader -- Jeanne Devenport
Music leader -- (pending)
Kitchen leader -- (pending)

Check back for updates, and for names of those who will be attending.  In the meantime, be sure to keep the weekend in your prayers, and make palanca as a visible expression of those prayers.   Directions for the palanca paper chain are below.

Palanca chain

For each Cursillo weekend we assemble a paper chain to visibly represent the Cursillo community's prayers and sacrifices for the Weekend. It is presented on Sunday morning, just after the Christian Community in Action talk.

If you would like to participate, cut 1" x 6" construction paper strips and link them together, then deliver your chain to any team member. The colors of the strips are as follows:

  • Red = 1 participation in Eucharist
  • Orange = 1 hour of prayer
  • Yellow = 1 hour of action (time spent making palanca, etc.)
  • Green = 1 hour of study
  • Blue = 1 hour of meditation or reflection
  • Purple = 1 hour of fasting
Palanca notes -- Notes to new cursillistas and team members telling of your prayers and actions for them are always welcome.  Before each Cursillo weekend their names are listed on this page (see above). Finished palanca notes can be delivered to any team member, or brought to the weekend location during Thursday-Saturday of the Cursillo weekend.
